The Vancouver International Wine Festival launch party took place at the JOEY Bentall One wine room on February 25 as guests indulged in wine and small bites done California-style by executive chef Chris Mills. Media and industry types showed up to celebrate the launch of the 35th Annual Vancouver International Wine Festival presented by The Vancouver Sun.
The festival, running Feb 25 - Mar 3, is Canada's premier wine show and one of the biggest and oldest wine events in the world, attracting over 25,000 participants and serving upwards of 30,000 bottles of wine. The festival features 1,850 wines from 15 countries represented by 175 selected wineries.
The regional theme this year in California and the global focus is Chardonnay. There are tasting rooms, a gala auction, wine seminars, trade events, and food and wine pairing affairs at top Vancouver restaurants and hotels. 50+ restaurants and hotels are participating, hosting 55 events in 30 venues over 7 days.
